A former instructor at a vocational-technical school in Blue Springsadmits conspiring with others to steal more than a million dollars infederal Pell Grant funds. Kalyne Miller was a pharmacy instructor for thenow-defunct College of Allied Health in Blue Springs, which trained medicaldental and pharmacy assistants. Prosecutors say the College received one-point-seven million dollars inPell Grants from 1992 to ’97. Miller and others diverted one-point-fourmillion of that amount from student aid to faculty salaries and operatingexpenses to keep the school from closing due to low enrollment. Some of themoney also was diverted for personal use. Miller faces up to five years in prison and a quarter million dollars infines.
