Future hall of famer Ray Bourque is not joining the Blues, but not for a lack of trying on the Blues’ part. The Boston Bruins have rejected what Blues GM Larry Pleau calls a substantial offer, and instead traded Bourque to Colorado. A report in Toronto says the Blues’ offer included a member of the team’s active roster, and was the best offer Boston received. Detroit, Toronto, Philadelphia and Dallas were also interested in a deal. Bourque is a five-time Norris trophy winner as the league’s best defenseman. He and Dave Andreychuk are going to Colorado in exchange for forward Brian Rolston, two prospects and a first round draft pick. The Blues are back in action tonight hosting Phoenix.
