One of the victims of the St.Louis area “southside rapist” says it’s time to speak out about rape–which she calls “a dirty little dark secret.” Diana Sue Kleeschulte of St. Charles was raped by Dennis Rabbit five years ago. He has been given two more life prison sentences for that attack, to go with the nine life terms he’s already gotten for other rapes. Kleeschulte has spoken at Rabbit’s sentencing hearing, saying it’s time for teachers, counselors and parents to realize how rampant rape is in a community. Kleeschulte now works with the St. Charles County Sexual Assault Center. She says experts calculate 85 percent of rapes are not reported because victims are embarassed, in fear, or think they could be blamed.
