Cody Ellis had 14 points and six rebounds to lead Saint Louis to a 64-50 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Richmond Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena.  Saint Louis’ fifth consecutive victory lifted the Billikens to 21-5 overall and 9-3 in the A-10. SLU remains a half-game behind first-place Temple (9-2 A-10), a 76-70 winner at St. Bonaventure Wednesday night.

Ellis, whose scoring total led SLU to a 33-13 advantage in bench points, was 6-of-11 from the field. He was joined in double figures by Kwamain Mitchell, who scored 11 points, and Mike McCall Jr., who tallied 10 to go with a game- and season-high five assists. McCall also had a season-high four rebounds.

How about some random basketball notes at the end of summer. First, Rick Majerus’ Saint Louis Billikens men’s basketball team will make an appearance on national television on December 11th when they take on Duke. SLU won 23 games and made it to the three game final of the CBI postseason tournament.

Former Missouri basketball star Linas Kleiza scored 30 points to help Lithuania to a 78-67 win over China at the world basketball championships in Turkey. Lithuania will face Argentia in the quarterfinals after they beat Brazil 93-89.
