Missourinet Mornings–Royals pick a SS, Cards go with a lefty, plus Sam Bradford from OTAs

The Royals went with a surprising pick with the overall number eight pick in yesterday’s MLB draft, but if Hunter Dozier pans out, it could mean good things for the left side of the infield. It’s been 19 years since the Cardinals took a left handed pitcher in the first round of the draft, but yesterday they took two. Both are command pitchers opposed to guys who bring the heat.  You’ll hear from 19th overall pick Marco Gonzalez.

Finally, this is a crucial year for Sam Bradford and the Rams offense. New weapons around him, but his second year in an offense he’s familiar with. We’ll hear from him after yesterday’s OTAs in St. Louis.

Why MLB is targeting suspensions for Braun, A-Rod (Google Hangout)

Major League Baseball will pursue drug suspensions for Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and about 20 other players who have been linked to the Biogenesis Clinic in South Florida. MLB could suspend each of them for 100 games, according to the report that first appeared on ESPN’s Outside the Lines.

Braun has been clouded with suspicion after a test found the presence of synthetic testosterone in October of 2011, the season he was the NL MVP.

If MLB is able to suspend Braun without failing a test, when he escaped suspension for actually failing a test. It seems backwards and it’s confusing, but MLB is pushing through.

They’ve agreed to drop a lawsuit against Anthony Bosch, the former operator of Biogenesis Clinic if he provides names and information on his former clients.

Bill Scott from Wisconsin Radio Network and Justin Hull of the Home Stretch on WSCO in Appleton, WI. joins me to discuss the details and what lies ahead for the Brewers slugger and baseball’s fight against performance enhancing drugs.

Missourinet Mornings–Mizzou, marijuana and someone using their head (VIDEO)

Don’t let the headline mislead you! All three of those subjects are not related, but they are topics that I cover on this Missourinet Mornings video.

1.  The Mizzou track and field team has an athlete that runs really fast…and a Tiger coach is up for a national honor.

2.  A former Cardinals pitcher may have had pot delivered to his house.

3.  A creative way to pull off a triple play. I call it really using your head.  You will see the replay

Plus, Michael Dixon says he’s ready to be a model citizen.  A Mizzou linebacker signs an NFL contract and the Royals may have a pitcher who throws over 100 mph.

Missourinet Mornings–Royals win some mid-season hardware, not something to be proud of (VIDEO)

I’ll start with a short video showing some highlights from Deacon Jones. One of the Rams “Fearsome Foursome,” died last night in Southern California. He was 74.

To lighten the mood, the Royals picked up some in-season hardware. I’m not really sure it is something to be proud of, but backup catcher George Kottaras (hitting .140 this season) knows how to milk a cow!

That is all I need to say about that!
