The Powerball jackpot reaches nine figures for the Saturday night drawing. Nobody hit it rich Wednesday night when the jackpot was $80 million. Now it will be an estimated $100 million dollars with a $64 million dollar single payout. Megamillions has reset to $12 million after somebody in California matched all the numbers last Tuesday night for $25 million.
Barnes-Jewish Hospital reimburses thousands to Medicare for overbilling.
A government audit says one of Missouri’s biggest hospitals has paid more than $725,000 back to Medicare.The audit says Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis overbilled or did not have adequate controls to prevent overbilling for dozens of cases. The hospital has bought new billing software since the audit.
Bank sued for stolen gold coins.
A Frontenac man says somebody has taken $260,000 worth of gold coins from his safe deposit box in a bank. He’s filed a lawsuit against the bank, saying he found someone else’s belongings inside the box that was supposed to be opened only with his key. He wants the bank to give him the value of the coins he claims have been lost.
St. Louis state representative thrown off primary ballot
A state representative running for a Missouri Senate seat has been thrown off the August primary ballot. A judge in St. Louis says Representative Jamilla Nasheed is not a legal resident of the district now represented by Senator Robin Wright-Jones. Nasheed, who lives outside the boundaries of the newly-drawn district, had said she would move into the district if she were elected.
Nasheed can still appeal the ruling.
Wright-Jones is serving her first term in the senate. Democratic state representative Jeanette Mott Oxford also is running for the seat.
Scammers target Ameren customers in Missouri, Illinois
Ameren officials are warning customers to keep their personal information under tight wraps.
Apparently scammers are targeting Ameren customers in Missouri and Illinois in effort to today issued a statement that a scam is impacting Ameren customers in Illinois and Missouri in an effort to get their Social Security numbers.
The scam claims President Obama is applying payments or credits of up to 15 hundred dollars to the customer’s utility bill.
Officials remind everyone to never give your credit card, debit card, Social Security, ATM, checking or saving account numbers to anyone who comes to your home, calls or sends an email requesting such information.
· If a caller claims to be an Ameren representative and asks for immediate payment over the phone or requests other personal information, hang up and call 800.755.5000 in Illinois or, 800.552.7583 in Missouri.
· Never allow anyone into your home who wants to check your electrical wiring, natural gas pipes or appliances unless you have scheduled an appointment or have reported a natural gas leak and the person has proper identification.
· Photo identification is carried by every Ameren employee and includes name, employee number and an official Ameren logo.
· If you suspect someone is impersonating an Ameren employee, end the conversation and immediately call your local police and then Ameren Illinois, 800.755.5000, or Ameren Missouri, 800.552.7583.
