Northern Missouri girl struck by Moberly school bus

At this point in the preliminary investigation it sounds as if the child inadvertently entered the roadway in front of the school bus,” said Macon. The school bus is from the Moberly Public School.”

According to Brown, the girl is suffering from serious injuries. “During the investigation, they determined that the bus was traveling through the area to a different destination. It was not stopping in that area to pick a child up. Based on the information we’ve gathered so far, the child inadvertently entered the roadway in front of the school bus.”

The girl has been taken to a Columbia hospital. No other injuries have been reported.

KMIZ-TV reports a letter was written by the Moberly Public School District to parents, letting them know about the incident.

The district said that the safety of students is the school’s first concern and the transportation department has a very safe driving record, and the crash was an isolated incident.

The letter said the injuries of the girl were significant but not life threatening. District officials also said all the other students on scene were cleared by medical personnel and allowed to board another bus.

The letter said the school counselor and school staff checked on the students and would continue to monitor them throughout the day.
