St. Louis native Patrick Maroon scored an early third period goal to tie the game, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins won it for Edmonton at 2:55 in overtime, getting a pass from Connor McDavid, pushing the Oilers past the Blues 3-2 on Monday night at Scottrade Center.  McDavid became the first NHL player with 40 points by assisting on the OT goal.

Vladimir Tarasenko, second in the NHL in points, scored his 16th goal just 33 seconds after Edmonton tied the game at 1-1 late in the first.  Tarasenko leads all NHL players with 15 points (six goals and nine assists) in December. Tarasenko has points in 17 of his last 21 games with 12 goals and 17 assists.

After winning eight straight against Edmonton, the Blues have now lost three in a row to the Oilers.
