The St. Louis Cardinals sent Jaime Garcia to Atlanta for three of their prospects who rank in the top 30 of their organization.  In return, the Cardinals got two pitchers and a second baseman.  Look out Kolten Wong?  Not so fast.

The Cards get right-handers John Gant and Chris Ellis and second baseman Luke Dykstra. (Yes, the son of Lenny Dykstra).

Ellis is 24 and had a 4.49 ERA between the Braves’ Double-A and Triple-A affiliates.  According to the Cardinals website, GM John Mozeliak projects Ellis in the rotation at Triple-A Memphis.

Gant, another 24-year old, went 1-4 with a 4.86 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 20 games (seven starts). He was a former 21st round draft pick in 2011 by the Mets.

Dykstra hit .304 in 81 games in Class A last season. The Cardinals will keep Dykstra at second for the time being, but could move him to another position.
