miz-wsocThe Mizzou soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament as the Tigers earned the seventh Tournament berth in program history, the NCAA announced on Monday. Missouri will travel to face Kansas in the first round at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan., on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.

The berth marked the seventh time the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament, as the squad also made the field in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Mizzou is 3-4-3 all-time in the Tournament and has a record of 3-1-2 in NCAA first round games. In 2014, the Tigers also traveled to Kansas in the first round and earned a 3-1 win over the Jayhawks.

The Tigers and Jayhawks have met 21 times previously, with the all-time series even at 10-10-1.

Mizzou earned its berth with an 11-6-2 overall record. The Tigers finished fifth in the Southeastern Conference and ended the season 6-3-2 in their last 10 matches. Last time out, Missouri tied No. 15 Florida, 3-3, in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament but the Gators advanced on penalty kicks, 8-7. The Tigers average 1.95 goals per game and allow 1.26 to their opponents.

The Jayhawks enter the Tournament with a 10-5-4 record and finished second in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas is coming off a 1-0 loss to TCU in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals. The squad average 1.26 goals per game and allow only allow 0.89 goals per game to their opponents.
