The highlights from Friday night:

8-man football…the last four state championships have been played by North Andrew and Stanberry. Both teams were 5-0 heading into last night. On their home field, North Andrew scores a 64-26 win over Stanberry.

Class 6, top ranked CBC beat SLU High 48-21. #2 Blue Springs took care of #4 Rockhurst 24-7, Hawklets suffered their first loss, three turnovers led to a 17-0 lead early. 5th ranked Jeff City won on their homecoming 61-21 over Rock Bridge.

Class 5, 2nd ranked Battle had no trouble with their Columbia crosstown rival Hickman 61-7. The team dedicated their win to linebackers coach Jon Dinter, who died after a six-year battle with brain cancer. He was 32. William Chrisman High School hasn’t been on the radar until last night. They blew a 14-0 lead but knocked off 3rd ranked Staley 43-39. The Bears are now 6-0. They’ll have a winning season for the first time since 1981.

Class 4, Top ranked Kearney squeaks by Belton 23-21. It was Belton who knocked off third ranked Platte County last week, so almost another big upset for the Pirates. Carthage knocks down #2 Carl Junction 35-28. Class 4 and 5 matchup between Webb City and Nixa. The Eagles no longer undefeated. Webb City wins 34-10, as the defense holds Nixa without a first down until the second quarter, and only 34 rushing yards.

Class 3, No changes in the top 4, Maryville, Blair Oaks, Center all win big. Monett holds off Cassville 21-20.

Class 2, Top ranked Lamar gets to 5-0, 56-0 over McDonald County. Battle of undefeated teams–2nd ranked Mountain View-Liberty beat 4th Mountain Grove 33-20. 3rd ranked Centralia loses to Class 3’s 9th ranked Mexico 34-9.

Class 1, #1 Valle Catholic 53-19 over Jefferson-Festus, #2 Marceline handles Schuyler County 57-0. #4 Lincoln 58-18 over Tipton. Putnam County beat 9th ranked Polo 56-42
