One day after the Royals overcame a four-run deficit, (only to lose in ten innings), the New York Yankees turned the tables coming from a 4-0 deficit to force extra innings.  For the second game in a row, they topped the Royals, 5-3 in extras.  Chris Young (3-9) gave up a single to Didi Gregorius and a double to Starlin Castro to lead off the 13th inning.

Ian Kennedy went 6.1 innings, and gave up four earned runs. The bullpen did its best to hold on as the bats went without a hit from the seventh inning on.  The Royals had to turn to Young in the 13th.

Kendrys Morales homered for the second straight game with two outs in the first. They also scored in the second on an error by third baseman Chase Headley and a double by Alcides Escobar.  The Royals made it 4-0 when Eric Hosmer homered to left in the third.
