At a recent campaign stop in Holt Summit, Blunt never mentioned his Democratic opponent, Jason Kander.  Blunt choose instead to focus on his disagreements with President Obama’s policies.  He blasted regulations imposed by the Obama administration, notably the “Waters of the U.S.” rule.

When asked about Kander specifically, Blunt spoke in more general terms.  “His legislative record, not good.  His Secreatary of State’s record, not good.  I think Missourians are going to have a good choice.”

In response, Kander spokesperson Chris Hayden said the Democrat often disagrees with plans championed by Obama.  “Jason opposed the Waters of the U.S. rule.  He also opposes TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership), which is a big priority of the Obama administration.  And he also came out against the Iran deal.”

Blunt repeated his earlier criticism of polls taken since the primary which show him in a tight race defending his Senate seat against Kander. “I’ve actually heard people say that any poll that has Mason-Dixon or a university name before it may not be all that good” said Blunt.  “But even in all those polls I’m ahead.  In our polling I’m ahead”

A Mason Dixon poll following the primary had Blunt leading Kander by only one point, while a more recent survey by Monmouth University showed him with a slightly larger five point advantage.  In recognizing the closeness of contests across the country, he told the crowd gathered to see him that he could easily be the 51st Republican in the Senate.

Blunt’s running on the campaign slogan “More Jobs, Less Government”.  He claims regulations under President Obama are hurting job growth.  At the Friday campaign stop, he spoke in general terms on how to expand employment.  “I think for us, a jobs program is a utility bill that can be paid, a transportation system that works, looking at what we need to do to be sure and have a workforce that’s ready.”

While addressing the crowd in Holt Summit, Blunt mentioned President Obama numerous times, while never bringing up Kander
