Jose Fernandez pitched seven shutout inningsĀ to lead the Marlins to a 3-0 win over the Royals at Marlins Park. Miami scored three runs in the sixth, thanks in part to a two-run single from Christian Yelich. Alcides Escobar had two hits for Kansas City, while Dillon Gee fell to 5-and-7.

The Royals were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position as their nine-game win streak came to an end.

The Royals wrap up their three-game series with the Marlins tonight in Miami. Edinson Volquez will go after his 10th win of the season for KC, while the Fish start 9-and-8 Tom Koehler.

First pitch is at 6:10 p.m. The Royals are five games out of the second AL wild card spot.
