What can I write about.  This was a stinker.  The offense finished with two hits and the Rays jumped on starter Edinson Volquez early and never looked back.  The Royals lost for just the second time in the last 14 games against Tampa Bay with Tuesday’s 12-0 final.

Volquez lasted until the sixth inning allowing eight runs (seven earned) and 11 hits showing on his line, falling to 8-10.  He allowed four runs in the first.

Here are some other ugly numbers from the pitching staff.  Reliever Chien-Ming Wang gave up four runs in one-third of on an inning and allowed final six straight batters to reach before he was pulled on July 26, the last time he pitch.  Wednesday, Wang allowed the first five hitters to reach base, making it 11 straight before he finally got an out. He gave up three runs in the inning and allowed to others to score, charged to Volquez.

Jake Odorizzi, the one-time Royal, won his third consecutive scoreless start, allowing just two hits in six innings and extending his scoreless streak to 20 2/3 innings.
