University of Missouri interim chancellor Hank Foley has named longtime employee Sarah Reesman at interim Athletic Director to replace Wren Baker, who replaced Mack Rhoades.

Here is the letter than was sent out from Foley’s office.

Dear university community–

As we continue the search for an Athletic Director, I am pleased to announce that Sarah Reesman has agreed to serve in the position on an interim basis beginning Friday, Aug. 5. Sarah has been travelling abroad for the past two weeks and will return to the office on Thursday.

Sarah has been with Mizzou athletics for 23 years and currently oversees many of the operational functions of the department, including human resources, academic support, student-athlete development, diversity and inclusion activities, student conduct and employee contracts. She also is the liaison with the women’s basketball team and is the administrator for volleyball, women’s and men’s swimming and diving, and wrestling.

Sarah will have my full support as she steps into this new role later this week.

Reesman’s bio:

Entering her 23rd year with the University of Missouri Department of Athletics is Executive Associate A.D./Senior Woman Administrator is Sarah Reesman.

A native of nearby Boonville, Mo., Reesman was elevated to Senior Associate Director of Athletics in 2006 after eight years as the Associate A.D. for Student Services/S.W.A. She was named Executive Associate A.D. in 2009.

In her current capacity as Executive Associate A.D., Reesman serves as the administrative liaison for the sports of women’s basketball, swimming and diving, wrestling, and volleyball, and has oversight for the department’s human resource services, as well as its gender equity and diversity and inclusion efforts. Since 1998, Reesman has spearheaded the athletics department’s strategic planning process through six iterations including most recently in 2010-11, resulting in new goals and objectives to guide the department in the coming years.

Prior to joining Mizzou’s executive staff, Reesman spent time as an assistant athletic director supervising MU’s student-athlete services. She also represents Mizzou as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in dealings with the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA. In 1997, 1998 and 2002 Reesman had oversight responsibilities for the organization of MU’s NCAA certification process.

For her leadership efforts, Reesman was recognized in the Columbia Business Times as one of the Top 40 business leaders in Columbia under the age of 40 and in 2009 was honored as part of the annual MU Tribute to Women for her contributions to the advancement of women at MU. She is a founding member and two-time past president of the Women’s Intersport Network for Columbia.

Reesman graduated from Mizzou with departmental honors in 1986. As an undergraduate, she chaired MU’s Student Athletic Board for two years and also spent two years as a student member of MU’s Intercollegiate Athletic Committee. She was a member of Mystical Seven and Mortar Board Honor Societies.

Following graduation, Reesman attended law school at the University of Minnesota, earning a J.D. degree in 1989. After a year as clerk for former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri Ann K. Covington, Reesman worked as an associate attorney with the firm of Slagle, Bernard and Gorman in Kansas City. She had just been elected vice president of the Tiger Club of Kansas City, after two terms as secretary and member of the board of directors, when she was hired at Mizzou in 1993.

She is married to Bill Tackett and they have one daughter, Kelley.
