Jefferson City Police are not ruling out drowning from high floodwaters as the cause of death for a man whose body was found Monday morning under a bridge near Vivion Field.
Police Lieutenant Steve Weaver tells Missourinet the body was found at about 9 a.m.
“The Jefferson City Parks and Recreation personnel were down there (near Vivion Field) assessing damage due to the flooding and preparations of what they needed to do to clean up debris and stuff. And that’s when they located what they thought to be a body in the water,” Lt. Weaver says.
Police and firefighters recovered the body.
Detectives have not released the man’s name. Weaver says the investigation continues.
