The Royals announced that closer Wade Davis is back in Kansas City for an MRI on his right arm. His flight wound up being delayed by a mechanical issue and he arrived late to Kansas City on Saturday night. The MRI is scheduled to take place Sunday morning.

Davis was on the disabled list earlier this month for a right forearm strain. He was activated July 16.

Davis did not have an MRI prior to his previous DL stint because the pain was not near the elbow.

The Royals received some good news after the MRI was performed. It revealed Davis has a low-grade (Grade 1) strain of his right flexor muscle.

“The MRI showed his elbow was clean,” manager Ned Yost said.
