Former Mizzou wrestler and McCluer High School star Tyron Woodley etched his name in the UFC record books with a first round knockout of Robbie Lawler in just 2:12, the fastest welterweight time.

“I was in the back, I was relaxed, I was nervous that I wasn’t nervous,” said Woodley (16-3), a Ferguson, Mo. native. “I knew what Robbie brings to the table. This was not the fight I would have picked because Robbie is my teammate, but I’ve been picturing myself with the belt around my waist and I made it happen.”

Woodley joins Ben Askren and Mike Chandler to become the third former Tiger wrestler to win an MMA championship.  Woodley finished his career at Mizzou in 2005.
