Cardinals rookie Aledmys Diaz helped jump start the offense against a pitcher who has been absolutely dominating at home.  Diaz and Miami Marlins starter Jose Fernandez knew each other when they were younger back in Cuba.

Diaz got the upper hand of his friend.  He homered, doubled and drove in three runs as the Cardinals held on to beat the Marlins 5-4.  Matt Holliday also homered.

The victory not only moved the Cardinals into a tie with Miami for the second wild card spot, but it also handed Fernandez just his second career loss at home.

Fernandez entered the game 26-1 all-time at Marlins Park.

Michael Wacha allowed three runs in six innings, and three relievers completed an eight-hitter. Seung Hwan Oh pitched in the ninth for his seventh save.
