The Rangers managed only four hits off Yordano Ventura, but three of those hits went over the wall.  Mitch Moreland’s second homer of the game broke a tie in the eighth inning as the Royals lost 3-2, Thursday night in Texas.

The Royals we held in check by Cole Hamels.  They scored two off of him on six hits in eight innings, but he matched his longest start of the season and threw 123 pitches while striking out eight.

According to probability charts, the Royals have just a 1.7% chance of making the postseason.

As the trade deadline approaches, look for the Royals to be sellers with Wade Davis the hot name that contenders want to scoop up.  However, reports are floating around that while Dayton Moore would entertain offers for Davis, it would have to come as a package deal as the Royals are reportedly looking to dump Ian Kennedy’s monster contract they gave him this off-season.

Many experts feel the one team that could absorb over $45 million that is owed Kennedy over the next three seasons is the L.A. Dodgers.
