On Tuesday, the Cardinals faced the New York Mets in a doubleheader at Citi Field and for the second time in a week, Jedd Gyorko provided the offensive spark in both games.

In the opening game, Gyorko led the Cardinals with a two-run homer off Noah Syndergaard in the third inning helping St. Louis pick up a 3-2 victory.

In the second inning of the nightcap, Gyorko got the offense going with his second homer of the day off Bartolo Colon. It was the only run scored in the Cardinals’ 3-1 loss.

Gyorko also hit three home runs in last Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Padres at Busch Stadium.

That made him the first Cardinal since Stan Musial in 1949 to hit multiple HRs, more than once in a single season.
