U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-Virginia) is Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s choice for vice president. Kaine is a Kansas City native and 1979 graduate of the University of Missouri. Some Missourians are praising Clinton’s pick, including Missouri Democratic Party chairman Roy Temple.

“Obviously Tim Kaine is a Mizzou grad. That makes him particularly interesting to people from the Show Me State,” says Temple.
The University of Missouri’s official Twitter page also showed its support for Kaine.
“Vice Presidential nominee, Sen. Tim Kaine, BA-79, is a Mizzou alumnus. Whether donkeys or elephants, Tigers make great leaders.”
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) is pleased with Clinton’s choice.
“He’s humble. He’s incredibly smart. He’s a joyful warrior, a kind and thoughtful person. He’ll be a wonderful VP! Congrats to my friend. M.I.Z.”
State Rep. Kip Kendrick (D-Columbia) tweeted out his support for Kaine.
“Former 45th District resident and #Mizzoumade #TimKaine picked to be next VP! We will welcome you back to the district anytime.”
Kaine was chosen from a short list of possible candidates, including U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, New Jersey U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Navy Admiral James Stavridis.
