Edinson Volquez walked the bases loaded in the first inning, but Cleveland couldn’t capitalize. Â Volquez finished with seven scoreless innings and the Royals beat the Indians 2-1 on Monday night at Kauffman Stadium.
Whit Merrifield hit his first major league home run and scored the Royals other run.
Kelvin Herrera gave up a homer in the eighth to Jason Kipnis before Wade Davis closed out the ninth.
