Brandon Moss, subbing in left field for Matt Holliday, victimized Reds pitching by hitting two home runs and driving in three runs as the Cardinals pulled away for a 12-7 win on Wednesday night in Cincinnati.

He hasn’t gotten many plate appearances lately, but Mike Matheny should run with his hot bat.  He’s five for his last nine with three homers and a triple.

“We know that he gets on a good roll and he’s dangerous,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said.

Moss broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth with a two-run drive deep into the seats in right field, that bounced up to the back row.  Rarely do balls make it that far.  In the seventh, Moss lined one that barely made it over the wall.  He was his eighth career multi-homer game.

Jhonny Peralta continues to put productive swings together.  He hit a three-run homer in the eighth that made the game 12-5.  Matt Adams connected off Reds’ starter Alfredo Simon in the first for a three-run homer.
