The Cardinals lost the rubber game of this important Central Division matchup in a 10-5 final with Pittsburgh on Sunday.  Losing two out of three, the Cardinals drop 1.5 games behind the Pirates for second place.

Michael Wacha took the loss on Sunday, his second this year to the Pirates.  In two starts this season vs. the Bucs, Wacha has been charged with eight runs in 10.1 innings.  In his other 33 innings pitched, Wacha has allowed just seven runs.

Pittsburgh scored three times in the fifth for a 3-1 lead. Chris Stewart hit an RBI double and John Jaso homered just over the wall in right field with two outs.  The Pirates added a run in the sixth when former Cardinals star David Freese hit an RBI single.

With the score 5-2, Gregory Polanco hit the fair pole down the left field line for three run-homer.  The Cardinals scored three in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-5, but the Pirates tacked on two more in the ninth.

Jeremy Hazelbaker hit his sixth homer and Stephen Piscotty added four hits.
