Missouri has 37 Republican National Convention delegates bound to presidential candidate Donald Trump and 15 bound to Ted Cruz. Trump won Missouri’s Republican Presidential preference primary in March.

The political landscape changed this week when Cruz bowed out of the race for commander-in-chief.

State Representative Chuck Basye (R-Columbia) backed Cruz. He expects some of Cruz’s delegates to support Trump.

“I was disappointed, but no matter who the nominee is, eventually I’m going to support,” said Basye.

Republican National Convention delegate Sara Walsh of Columbia is bound to Cruz, but says she will support Trump.

“We had a unified slate. We had a unified caucus and we need to beat Hillary in November,” said Walsh.

Cruz dropped out of the race after Trump’s landslide win this week in Indiana’s primary election.
