Before Monday night’s game against the Phillies, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny held court in the dugout during batting practice and touched on urging his players to take what they see on social media with a grain of salt.  It almost sounds as if Matheny would prefer his players didn’t even pay attention to that trash.

“You lose a few games and the world’s coming to an end,” Matheny said.

Matheny said he and the players are continually amazed with how negative the fans’ reactions become when wins are hard to come by.

“We’ve got a long way to go,” Matheny emphasized on Monday.
