Mizzou stopped a seven-game losing streak on the season and a four-game losing streak in this in-state rivalry, with a 17-9 victory over Missouri State Tuesday evening at Taylor Stadium.

The Tigers recorded season highs for hits and runs scored, and scored at least two runs in six different innings in their most lopsided win over MSU since 1986.

Shane Benes (Town and Country, Mo.) and Zach Lavy (Auxvasse, Mo.) both hit two-run homers.  Lavy went 3-for-3 and came within a triple of hitting for the cycle, while he and Benes drove in 11 of the Tigers’ 17 runs.

Spencer Johnson (Springfield, Mo.) hit his 14th homer for Missouri State and the Bears scored four in the sixth to cut their deficit to 10-5, but never threatened.

Up next, the Bears (28-11) travel to Terre Haute, Ind., where they will meet Indiana State for a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series.  Mizzou (21-21) begins a three game series with Tennessee on Friday at Taylor Stadium.
