Alcides Escobar turns in a gem in the sixth inning.

So many good things to talk about in the Royals 6-2 win over Houston on Thursday night.  Not only did the Royals take three out of four, but the bats got hot in a park that’s been troublesome in the past.  Mike Moustakas hit a homer in the first and went 2 for 4 with a walk.  Eric Hosmer, Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Omar Infante each had two hits, and the Royals set a season high with 13.

Ian Kennedy improved to 2-0 with another impressive outing.   Kennedy struck out seven and allowed a run on two hits and two walks. He started the game with five hitless innings and had set down 14 straight before Carlos Gomez’s leadoff single to center in the sixth.

Then there was this.

Hosmer called it the best play he has seen from Escobar. Marwin Gonzalez popped one into short center. In a full out sprint, Esky made the catch with his back towards the infield, then turned around and fired the ball 150 feet to first to double off Carlos Gomez.  Watch Alcides Escobar’s sliding catch in center field that turned into a double play.
