Lorenzo Cain’s three-run homer in the first held up for Chris Medlen and four Royals’ relievers for a 3-2 win over the Astros on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
The Astros answered with two in the first of Medlen, making his first start of the year. Medlen gave up two runs in five innings, giving up six hits while striking out seven.
Luke Hochevar, Kelvin Herrera, Joakim Soria and closer Wade Davis each threw a scoreless inning of relief with Davis getting the save leaving two on in the bottom of the ninth while striking out George Springer.
