The Kansas City Royals will raise their World Series banner on Sunday.  Then, moments later…Deja vu all over again. A rematch of teams and starting pitchers from the final game of last season, to start the 2016 season.

New York Mets at Royals–first pitch, 7:37 p.m. Sunday April 3rd.

Starting pitchers:
Mets–Matt Harvey
Royals–Edinson Volquez

The matchup:
Harvey is coming off a season that saw him set career highs in starts, innings and wins.  Volquez gets the start on Opening Night at Kauffman Stadium in a rematch of Game 5 of the World Series against Harvey.

World Series Game 5:
Volquez was in line for the loss on November 1st, allowing just two runs, one earned over six innings.  He ended up with a no-decision after the Royals scored two in the ninth to tie the game.  Harvey faced two batters as he was working on a complete game.  He walked Lorenzo Cain and gave up a run scoring double to Eric Hosmer after Cain stole second.  He was charged with the two runs and took a no-decision in the eventual 7-2, Series clinching win for the Royals.
