Wes Clark

“Wes Clark has failed to meet the academic expectations of Mizzou Athletics Department and is no longer a member of the men’s basketball program. Due to this issue relating to academics, Mizzou Athletics will have no further comment.”

That was the official press release from the department about 45 minutes prior to the tip of Tuesday night’s game against South Carolina.

Clark, a junior, had started all 25 games and was averaging 26.5 minutes.  He was second on the team with 9.8 points per game and his assist to turnover ratio was 74-54.  Freshman Cullen VanLeer will start in place of Clark.

This isn’t the first time the Detroit, Michigan native has had disciplinary issues.  Clark was suspended for the final two games of his freshman season after he was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession. He missed a practice his sophomore year and was suspended one game.

Shortly after the announcement came from Mizzou, Wes Clark took to Twitter.
