As I stood and watched Coach and Mrs. Loos with their three children during the halftime ceremony, the first thing that came to my mind was how brave that family is.
To set aside their personal struggles of what Rhyan is going through, and put their family front and center to raise awareness for pediatric cancer takes courage.  To be open and share the details of Rhyan’s struggles and to be that voice for all children with cancer during their tough personal journey speaks measures of their character.
Coach Loos have never talked about this just being for Rhyan. Â He includes all children fighting cancer and to take up this cause while they are in the middle of their own battle, leaves me in awe of their strength.
Mizzou Athletics announced that Tiger fans raised over $50,000 for pediatric cancer research from Mizzou Men’s Basketball’s #RallyForRhyan Game vs. Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The combined amount of t-shirt sales and cash donations at the door was raised in honor of assistant coach Brad Loos’ 5-year-old daughter, Rhyan, who continues her fight against neuroblastoma. Rhyan was diagnosed with the rare form of pediatric cancer in October.
“I am so thankful for everything that everybody’s done,” Brad Loos said. “Thank you doesn’t do it justice. I’m happy for the way the day went. I’m happy for the win. I am thrilled by the amount of money we raised. I am really happy for our guys. They have been working really hard and deserved a win.”
A season-high 10,536 fans came to Mizzou Arena to see the Tigers win 75-64. Fans were granted free general admission at the gate with a cash donation of any amount, which led to $35,726 in monetary donations on Saturday.
In cooperation with the Tiger Team Store, more than 1,300 #RallyForRhyan t-shirts were sold for more than $15,000 in proceeds at the Tiger Team Store.
