The New England Patriots are good.  How good?  They are making their 5th straight AFC Championship game appearance.  They held off the Chiefs in a 27-20 final in Foxborough, MA.

Before the game I tweeted the key to beating the Patriots was for the Chiefs defense to put pressure on Brady and force him to scramble on his ankle sprain.

The Patriots put together a great game plan of short drops and quick releases for Brady.  He finished the game virtually untouched while going 28 of 42 for 302 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  He didn’t turn the ball over, even when he made an ill-advised pass late in the game trying to run down the clock and burn timeouts.

The Patriots plan was to pass, running it just 12 times.  They started the game with 12 straight pass attempts and at one point Brady completed 13 straight passes.

Edelman and Gronk were Brady’s “go-to” guys.  Edelman had 10 catches for 100 yards and Gronkowski, had 83 yards on seven catches with two touchdowns.

Justin Houston, the Chiefs top pass rusher, bothered by his knee, played just eight snaps in the first half and never returned for the second.
