The 24th ranked Mizzou women picked up their biggest win over a high ranked opponent since 2004, when they beat 6th ranked Mississippi State 66-54, Thursday evening at Mizzou Arena. Freshman guard Sophie Cunningham led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Junior forward Jordan Frericks recorded her fourth double-double of the season and 21st of her career after recording 10 points and 10 rebounds.

 

The Tigers used a 20-9 run in the first quarter to build their lead and then later in the second, put together a 10-0 run to extend their biggest lead of the game to 20. The Tigers were up by 11 at the break.  The closest the Bulldogs would get would be seven.

“What a great win for our team,” head coach Robin Pingeton said. “We beat a great team on our home court and I’m really proud of our girls.”

 

Mizzou is at Arkansas, Sunday at 2 p.m.
