Make it three losses in a row for the Missouri Tigers in the Braggin’ Rights game against Illinois. A 68-63 final here at Scottrade Center on Wednesday night.
The Tigers were down 20 with just over 16 minutes to play and they held Illinois scoreless for almost ten minutes to get it back to a 50-45 game with just over six to play. Mizzou got it 60-57 on a three from Terrance Phillips with 59 seconds left.
Wes Clark finished with 21 points. Kevin Puryear with 12. Russell Woods had seven points and a career high 10 rebounds.
Mizzou turned the ball over 15 times and that led to 15 points for Illinois. The sloppy first half was basically the ball game.
Head coach Kim Anderson loved the energy and said he learned a little more about his team. While he wouldn’t give details, he promised we would notice. Look for changes in the lineup.
Mizzou falls to 5-6 on the season and now trails 23-12 all-time in this rivalry game.
