St. Louis Blues David Backes ends up nearly on top of the goal after scoring against the Winnipeg Jets in the first period at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on November 16, 2015. Photo by Bill Greenblatt/UPI

David Backes scored two goals and added an assist to help the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at Scottrade Center on Monday. Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and an assist, Kevin Shattenkirk had two assists, and Jake Allen made 16 saves for the Blues who improved to 12-5-1.

A goal from Tarasenko and a power play goal from Backes gave the Blues a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the Jets scored two goals 36 seconds apart in the second to tie the game.

Less than two minutes later, Backes’ second goal of the game 4:24 into the second period proved to be the game-winner.

The Blues play at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
