The Missouri Tigers (4-3 overall, 1-3 in Southeastern Conference play), look to regroup from a heartbreaker of a 9-6 loss last Saturday at Georgia, as they head to the Music City, where they will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-4, 0-3) in Nashville, TN. Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 3 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

I’ve talked to a lot of fans who are making the trip to watch the game.  I spent some time with lifetime Nashville native Chris Lee, who covers the Commodores for VandySports.com, and he shares some cool places to hang out and where to eat while Tiger fans are in Nashville this weekend.  We also talk football and preview this weekend’s game. A win would snap a two-game losing streak for the Tigers, the first for the program since the 2012 season.  Mizzou had numerous chances to pull out a big road win last Saturday at Georgia, but despite the great defensive job, the Tiger offense was held to just six points in the loss.

Vanderbilt is coming off of a  19-10 loss Saturday at South Carolina, a game in which the Commodores held a 10-6 lead until late in the third quarter.  Vandy has split its last four games, defeating Austin Peay 47-7 on Sept. 19th for their first win of the season, followed by a close 27-16 loss at #3 Ole Miss. The Commodores rebounded with a 17-13 win at Middle Tennessee, which preceded Saturday’s defeat at South Carolina.

Mizzou and Vanderbilt have played two common opponents this season, in Georgia and South Carolina. Mizzou is 1-1 against those foes, while Vanderbilt is 0-2. The Tigers defeated South Carolina in Columbia, Mo. (24-10 on Oct. 3rd), and lost at Georgia, 9-6, last Saturday, while Vanderbilt lost at home to Georgia (31-14 on Sept. 12th) and lost last Saturday at South Carolina.

The Tigers rank 4th in the SEC in coming up with interceptions and Chris  tells us that the Commodores can move the football…the problem is they turn the ball over.  Head coach Derek Mason talked about that earlier this week.

“A turnover is something that’s earned. It’s a strip, a forced fumble, a collision where a guy’s holding on to the football, a rough collision where the ball’s knocked out. … We’ve had too many giveaways and not enough turnovers. If they’re earning them-I can understand a strip or forced fumble-but I can’t understand a ball thrown into coverage the way it’s been.”

Watch our game preview and for Mizzou fans traveling to Nashville, Chris shares some ideas of where to go and what to do before and after the game.
