Evander “Ziggy” Hood is now with the Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears released veteran defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff and signed former Missouri Tiger and former first-round draft pick, defensive lineman Ziggy Hood, the team announced Thursday.

Hood started the season on injured reserve with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was released Tuesday. He’s played in 96 games, with 46 starts, over six seasons in Pittsburgh (2009-13) and Jacksonville (2014). He was selected No. 32 overall by the Steelers in the 2009 NFL draft.

The 28 year old Hood has not played in a game this season.

Ratliff was seen outside the Bears’ training facility, Halas Hall, having a heated discussion on Wednesday morning with GM Ryan Pace.  The two men went back inside and Ratliff was later seen in street clothes walking around the facility.  A local police car was also patrolling the facility.
