UConn’s possession carried over into the second quarter, but the defense came up big for the Tigers.  Anthony Sherrils recovered a fumbled at the Tigers 46 after Kentrell Brothers forced the ball loose from UConn back Ron Johnson.

Drew Lock completed all three of his passes on his series, but two short runs by Ish Witter were stopped short and Gary Pinkel elected for the three points. Andrew Baggett missed a 40-yard field goal attempt by hitting the right upright.

Special teams was the key to this quarter.

UConn faked a punt and ran 13 yards for a first down.  The Tigers defense held the Huskies to three and out, but on the next punt, a Mizzou player had the poor punt bounce of his foot.  It was recovered by the Huskies at the 25 of Missouri.

On a 4th down play, UConn lined up for a field goal, but quickly got into a play formation.  Holder Tim Boyle looked for tight end to Alec Bloom, but Donovan Newsom got his hand in to knock the ball loose saving a touchdown.

Near the end of the first half, Mauk had the ball at the 47 with 56 seconds left.  He ran out of bounds on first down for a loss of two.  Threw his second down pass out of bounds. The third down pass down the right side to Wesley Leftwich was too far.
