Fulton boys basketball Coach Ryan Shaw died Friday afternoon after a brain aneurysm.

The 43-year-old Shaw was in South Carolina on business when he was hospitalized after suffering the brain aneurysm while exercising Thursday night.

“Ryan was a great coach and was well-liked by his team, his players and the faculty,” Fulton Public Schools superintendent Dr. Jacque Cowherd said. “He will be missed and we will do everything to support his family.”

Shaw’s wife, Lori, is a third-grade teacher at Bartley Elementary. Their daughter, McKenzie, is a senior at Fulton High School and their son, Jordan, is a sophomore.

Shaw coached the Hornets for three seasons after stints in Warrenton, Springfield and Potosi.

A moment of silence was held prior to the Hornets Friday night’s home football game against Osage.
