World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner was called onto pinch hit for San Francisco Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong with two outs in the seventh inning.  His single started a rally against Lance Lynn and added insurance as the champs evened up the series with a 2-0 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.

Lynn was trailing 1-0 and retired the first two batters when he allowed a single to center to Bumgarner.  Lynn then walked the next two hitters loading the bases.  Randy Choate was called in to face lefty hitter Brandon Belt and Choate plunked him scoring Bumgarner and giving the Giants insurance.

The extra run didn’t matter as the Cardinals struck out six times over the final three innings.  Vogelsong and four relievers held the Cardinals to two hits and two walks while fanning 11 hitters overall.

Jason Heyward was out of the lineup, but the injury to his hamstring was not believed to be serious, and he could return soon as soon as Friday, according to the outfielder.
