After falling behind 10-0 early in Arizona, thanks in part to Arizona’s Tyrann Mathieu interception of an Alex Smith pass on the Chiefs’ first possession the reserves scored 31 unanswered points thanks to the leadership of Chase Daniel.

The Chiefs backup quarterback was 17 for 29 for 189 yards in two quarters of play.  He also threw three touchdowns.

Daniel has proven he can pass the ball with consistency whether he’s facing reserves or getting a chance to start during the regular season.  The Chiefs have a trading chip where they could upgrade at another position while dealing Daniel.

Its time to see what Aaron Murray can do.  If he proves he can become a dependable reserve along with a healthy Tyler Bray, the Chiefs best move would be to send Daniel to another team that will give him a starting job.

It still blows my mind that Blaine Gabbert was given an opportunity to start before Daniel.

The other big story line in an otherwise meaningless game was the return of safety Eric Berry.

Nine months after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, he was on the field where he gave his mother a big hug. Berry completed treatment in May and was declared cancer-free a month later.
