“I wanted it bad,” Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain said about hitting for the cycle.  If that’s the biggest concern the Royals players have right now, then things are looking pretty good for the boys in blue.  Cain went 4-for-4 and hit his 12th homer of the season as the Royals beat Detroit 6-1.

Cain raised his batting average to .316.  He needed a triple in his final at-bat.  He singled, but was out trying to stretch it to a double.

“Dyson definitely reminded me before I went up to hit. I was looking to drive a ball to right-center or right field somewhere. Unfortunately I didn’t hit it hard enough to get it to the gap. I ended up sliding in for a single,” said Cain.

The Royals homered three times off Tigers’ starter Anibal Sanchez, who has given up 28 this season.  Eric Hosmer put the Royals on top 2-0 in the first with his 12th.  Cain hit his monster shot in the sixth and Mike Moustakas broke an 0-for-18 slump with a two run shot in the sixth.

All that offense was for Yordano Ventura, who was effectively wild.  He improved to 7-7, (3-1 since the All-Star break) and he struck out eight, matching his career high.  Despite giving up just two hits, he also walked a career high six.
