Another busy schedule is set up this weekend for MSHSAA’s track and field championships

The team tennis finals are wrapping up in Springfield today as they try to finish outdoors before rain crosses over from Kansas and Oklahoma.  Baseball quarterfinals in Classes 4 and 5 hope to get their games as well as the spring sports season is coming to a close for this high school year.

Jason West from MSHSAA tells me that 2,168 athletes will be coming into Jefferson City this weekend for the track and field championships in Classes 3-5.  Last weekend, we had a national record nearly broken during the Class 1 and 2 championships.

Rock Bridge and Rockhurst could be facing each other in the boys’ team tennis finals.  Those two schools have combined to win each of the last eight championships with Rockhurst winning in 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2014.  Rock Bridge won in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.  Rockhurst has 17 state titles and 25, Top-4 finishes.  Rock Bridge has four state titles and 15, Top-4 finishes.
