Randal Grichuk

After striking out five times in Monday’s 14-inning loss, Randal Grichuk rebounded as did the entire Cardinals offense, with a 10-2 win over the Mets.  The victory improved Michael Wacha’s record to 6-0 as the club went 6 for 14 with runners in scoring position, just a day after they went 0 for 11 in that same category.

“Last night (Monday) was pretty pathetic,” Grichuk said, who came back on Tuesday with a triple, two doubles and three RBIs. “It’s not easy to forget about it, but after that first knock, I was able to relax a little bit, and I had fun the rest of the night. Tonight we were hitting on all cylinders, and it was fun to watch.”

Grichuk was the first Redbird to whiff five times in a game since Ray Lankford back in 1998.

Grichuk didn’t sleep well after Sunday’s game led the Cardinals to arriving in New York at 3:30 a.m. Monday morning.  After Monday night’s game, he admitted he didn’t sleep well again.  I’m guessing after Tuesday’s performance, he’s getting a good night’s rest.
