Senior Katie Wood delivered a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to lead the No. 1 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team to a 2-1 victory over No. 10 Indianapolis on Friday in game one of the 2015 NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regional.

UMSL takes a 1-0 lead in the best of three games series and will look for the sweep Saturday when the two teams meet again at Noon. If necessary, a third and deciding game would follow.

Hannah Perryman tossed the complete game victory, improving to 30-3 in the circle.

Katie Shockley tossed a complete-game four-hitter and Lindsey Dawson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and the 20th-ranked Jennies beat ninth-ranked Augustana 6-0 in the first game of the best-of-three Central Super Regional on Friday afternoon at Bowden Field in South Dakota.

The win for Shockley was her sixth straight and her 22nd in her last 23 decisions. She is now 26-6 on the season and her 26 wins is a new UCM single-season record.

The Jennies lead the Super Regional series 1-0 and can advance to the NCAA-II Championships with one win on Saturday. Game two has been moved up to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning with the “if necessary” game three set for 12:30 p.m.
