Angel Nesbit’s first pitch of the tenth inning grazed Alex Gordon’s jersey, setting up the winning run

The Royals and Tigers ended their 10-inning game this morning. After a one hour and 43 minute rain delay, the Royals manufactured a run in the 10th. Alex Gordon was hit by a pitch on the first pitch of the inning, took second on a wild pitch, and advanced to third on Salvador Perez’s groundout.  Gordon then scored when Omar Infante hit a sacrifice fly to center. Greg Holland held on in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 win.

In the bottom of the 10th, Holland loaded the bases with no outs, but got a double play and then struck out Yoenis Cespedes to end the game.

The Royals take two out of three from the Tigers and leave the Motor City up 1.5 games. Not much rest for the Royals though as they open a four game series at Texas tonight.
