15th ranked Mizzou Softball (35-11, 13-8) failed to complete the sweep of 3rd ranked LSU (42-8, 14-7) in the series finale on Monday night, losing 9-0 in five innings. LSU used five runs in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to avoid the Mizzou sweep.

LSU was up 2-0 in the third, when Sandra Simmons hit a three-run shot off reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Paige Lowary.  In the top of the fifth, LSU’s Bianka Bell hit a home run to lead off the inning as LSU tacked on three more runs.

Mizzou has one day off before a midweek doubleheader at University Field against Northern Iowa. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT Wednesday
